Though lacking military training, Eli quickly proved indispensable aboard the Ancient vessel Destiny, using intuition, pattern recognition, and creativity to understand systems far beyond human design. Over time, he evolved from an awkward civilian into one of Destiny’s most capable minds.
Final Years Aboard Destiny
When Destiny’s crew entered extended stasis, Eli made the choice to remain awake, knowing the risk. Alone aboard the ancient ship, he spent years maintaining failing systems, preserving data, and keeping Destiny operational against all odds. Logs later recovered reveal a solitary vigil sustained by the belief that someone would eventually come looking.
By the time the Atlantis team reached Destiny during Stargate: Exile, Eli Wallace had already died. His life ended quietly, not in battle, but in endurance. Destiny survived because he did.
Legacy in Stargate: Exile
Eli does not return—but his work makes everything that follows possible. His records and modifications allow Carter and McKay to uncover the Ancient theory of gravitational translation, enabling Destiny’s return to Pegasus and its rebirth as the coalition’s flagship.
Eli Wallace did not live to see the war begin.
